Running Pace Calculator
Solve for pace, time, or distance from the other two values. Use km or miles, min/km or min/mile, and optional even-split charts for 5K through the marathon.
What does a running pace calculator do?
For runners who need the missing number, not a fitness score.
A running pace calculator solves the pace-time-distance relationship. If you know any two, you can find the third. That is the right tool for “what pace is a 3:30 marathon?” or “how long is 10K at 5:00/km?” It is not a VDOT estimate and it does not invent training zones from a race result.
Calculator
Convert pace, time, and distance, then optionally build a split table.
Choose the value to solve, enter the other two, and optionally build a split chart.
Use a preset or enter a custom distance.
Fill the two known fields to calculate the missing one.
Even splits at the current pace. Choose marathon for a marathon pace chart.

How to use this pace calculator
Enter the two values you already know
Choose whether you want pace, time, or distance. Fill the other two fields and pick a race preset if you are targeting 5K, 10K, a half marathon, or a marathon.
Read the missing value
The calculator uses even-split arithmetic: time = pace × distance. It does not adjust for hills, heat, or fading late in a race.
Open the split chart if you need checkpoints
Pick a race distance to see even-split times at your current pace. That is a marathon pace chart only in the even-split sense, not a predicted race result.
Marathon pace calculator and pace chart
Use the marathon preset when you want even-split goal pace and checkpoint times.
Enter a goal marathon time to get min/km or min/mile, or enter a pace to get an even-split finish time. The table below shows common even-split marathon times. Real races usually cost more than the math once fatigue, weather, and hills appear.
| Pace | Even-split marathon time |
|---|---|
| 4:00 /km | 2:48:47 |
| 4:30 /km | 3:09:53 |
| 5:00 /km | 3:30:59 |
| 5:30 /km | 3:52:04 |
| 6:00 /km | 4:13:10 |
These finish times assume a constant pace on 42.195 km. They are not equivalent-performance predictions.
Pace calculator vs VDOT
This page owns pace, time, and distance. VDOT owns race-result fitness and training paces.
Use this running pace calculator when you already have a goal time or a target pace and need the other number, or a split chart. Use the VDOT calculator when you have a recent race result and want Daniels-style training paces or equivalent race predictions. The two tools answer different questions.
