Mobile Recording

Prepare permissions, record a workout safely, recover interrupted sessions, and verify that a mobile activity synchronized to Trainingload.ai.

Mobile Recording

This tutorial ends with a saved mobile workout that appears in your Trainingload.ai activity history.

Before you begin

  • Sign in to the mobile app with the same account you use on web.
  • Enable location permission for outdoor GPS recording.
  • Allow background location when your operating system offers it and you intend to lock the screen during a workout.
  • Disable aggressive battery restrictions for Trainingload.ai if your device pauses background apps.
  • Make sure the phone has enough battery and storage for the planned duration.

1. Check permissions

Open Permissions from the mobile account area. Resolve any required location or health permission before the workout. A provider permission and phone GPS permission are different: connecting a provider does not grant the phone permission to record location.

2. Open the recorder

Open Record, choose the sport, and wait for the recorder to report a usable location state before starting an outdoor session.

3. Start and monitor the workout

  1. Start the recording only once.
  2. Confirm that elapsed time increases.
  3. For outdoor sessions, check that distance or route data begins updating.
  4. Lock the screen only after the session is clearly running.

If the app returns to the foreground after being suspended, wait for it to restore the active session. Do not create a second recording while recovery is in progress.

4. Finish and save

When the session is complete:

  1. Stop the recording.
  2. Review duration, distance, and sport.
  3. Save the workout.
  4. Keep the app online until the upload or import handoff completes.

The mobile app preserves recording data locally during the session and uses a recovery flow for interrupted recordings. A successful local save does not mean every server chart is immediately ready; analysis continues after upload.

Verify the result

Open Me → Activities or the relevant calendar day. Confirm:

  • Only one activity exists for the session.
  • Start time, sport, duration, and distance are plausible.
  • The map appears for a GPS workout.
  • Sensor-derived charts appear only when the recording contained that data.
  • The activity can be linked to the intended planned workout.

Troubleshooting

Time increases but distance stays at zero

Check location permission, GPS signal, and whether the selected sport expects outdoor distance. Move to an open area and wait for location readiness.

Recording stops when the screen locks

Enable background location and remove battery optimization for the app. Operating-system settings can override the in-app permission state.

The activity appears twice

Do not upload the locally recorded file again while synchronization is still pending. Compare start time and duration, then delete only the confirmed duplicate.

Activity exists but charts are missing

Wait for analysis to finish and refresh. Missing heart rate, power, or cadence can also mean the recording never contained those streams.

Next step

Open Activity Detail, then link the result through Manage an Active Plan if it was a planned session.
