Activity Detail

Understand an activity detail page in Trainingload.ai, including processing status, summary metrics, charts, route data, load, pace, power, and heart-rate analysis.

Activity Detail

The activity detail page explains one completed workout. It is where you move from “I uploaded a file” to “I understand what this session did.”

Open it from:

  • The activity feed.
  • Activity search.
  • Map.
  • Calendar or day view.
  • A linked workout inside a training plan.

Before you review

  • Wait until the activity is Ready whenever possible.
  • Confirm that the sport type, start time, duration, and distance look plausible.
  • Check that relevant thresholds and zones are current before judging intensity.
  • If the session followed a plan, open or link the intended planned workout.

Review workflow

Use the same order for every activity:

  1. Check processing state and source data.
  2. Read the summary to understand the session's scale.
  3. Inspect time-series charts for how the work unfolded.
  4. Confirm which signal produced the load estimate.
  5. Add terrain and plan context before drawing a conclusion.

Processing status

An activity may not be fully analyzed immediately after import. Processing can include file normalization, duplicate handling, time-series preparation, and metric computation.

Common states:

  • Analyzing: charts and derived metrics may still be incomplete.
  • Ready: the activity is available for normal review.
  • Partial failed: the activity exists, but some analysis may be missing.
  • Failed: the file could not be processed.

If the activity is not ready yet, wait for processing to complete before judging missing charts or metrics.

Summary metrics

The top-level summary usually includes core workout fields such as:

  • Sport type.
  • Start time and time zone.
  • Distance and duration.
  • Moving time and elapsed time.
  • Elevation gain.
  • Average and max heart rate.
  • Average and max power.
  • Pace or speed.

The exact fields depend on the sport and the data available in the file.

Charts and time series

Activity charts help explain how the workout unfolded over time. Depending on the data, you may see:

  • Pace or speed.
  • Heart rate.
  • Power.
  • Cadence.
  • Elevation.
  • Grade or slope.

Use charts to find pacing drift, surges, climbs, stops, or unusual sensor behavior.

Load and intensity

Trainingload.ai can compute session load from different data sources:

  • Power-based TSS when power and threshold are reliable.
  • Pace-based rTSS for running when pace, terrain, and threshold pace are available.
  • Heart-rate-based TRIMP / hrTSS when heart rate is the best available signal.
  • Fallback estimates when limited data is available.

Route and terrain context

If the activity has GPS and elevation data, terrain can change how you interpret pace and effort.

  • Uphill pace may look slow while effort is high.
  • Downhill pace may look fast while mechanical stress is high.
  • GAP and NGP help compare hilly running with flatter efforts.

Plan linkage

If the activity belongs to a plan workout, link it to the planned session. This unlocks plan execution review:

  • Planned vs completed session.
  • Expected load vs actual load.
  • Completion status.
  • AI Coach follow-up with plan context.

If the wrong activity is linked, unlink it and choose the correct workout manually.

Ask AI Coach

Use AI Coach when you want interpretation rather than raw numbers. Helpful prompts:

  • “Did this session match the planned intensity?”
  • “Why did my heart rate drift late in the run?”
  • “Was this too hard for an easy day?”
  • “What should I change before the next workout?”

Verify your interpretation

Before acting on the activity, make sure you can answer:

  • What was the purpose of this session?
  • Which data source and threshold drove its load or intensity?
  • Did the charts show a real training pattern or a sensor/data problem?
  • If it was planned, did the activity fulfill the intended workout?
  • What is the smallest decision this evidence supports?

Avoid changing a plan because one isolated metric looks unusual. Compare the activity with recent training and the athlete's current state.

Troubleshooting

  • Charts are missing: wait for Ready status, then confirm the uploaded file actually contains time-series samples.
  • Load looks wrong: check threshold values, sport type, and load-source priority before comparing formulas.
  • Route is missing: the source may not contain GPS, or privacy processing may remove part of the route.
  • Plan comparison is absent: link the activity to the correct planned workout and refresh the detail.
  • Only part of the page is available: a Partial failed state means some processing succeeded; use the available evidence and retry or re-import only when the source file is trustworthy.
