Competitions
Add races and competition events, set their importance and goal, review plan impact, and manage cancellation or restoration without turning the event into a workout.
Competitions
Competition events remain independent from training plans. This lets one event influence plan decisions without pretending the event itself is an ordinary scheduled workout.
Before you begin
- Confirm the official event date, local start time, and time zone.
- Decide whether it is a low-priority practice event or a protected key race.
- Keep the event separate from any planned workout that happens on the same day.
- Add a target time only when it is a real goal rather than an unsupported prediction.
Add a competition
Open Competitions and select Add Competition. Enter:
- Competition name.
- Date or date range.
- Start time and time zone together when a timed start matters.
- Sport and optional sport definition.
- Distance when relevant.
- Importance: low, medium, high, or critical.
- Goal type, including target time when selected.
- Location and notes.
Use importance to express how much the plan should protect the event. Do not mark every race critical; multiple critical events close together create a real planning conflict rather than extra priority.
The event stays independent while its timing, importance, and goal inform current plan review.
Review the event
After saving, verify the countdown, date, sport, goal, and importance. The event also appears in relevant calendar and day views.
Trainingload.ai can evaluate current plan impact using the event window and nearby planned training. The impact is decision support, not an automatic guarantee that every conflicting workout should be removed.
Resolve a competition-day conflict
When a planned workout and competition share a day:
- Confirm that the event date and time zone are correct.
- Decide whether the competition replaces the workout, fulfills similar intent, or coexists with a separate easy session.
- Edit, skip, or move the planned workout explicitly.
- Review surrounding intensity and recovery days.
- Ask AI Coach for an adjustment only after the desired competition priority is clear.
Update safely
Competition records use version-aware updates. If another request changed the event, refresh and review the latest copy before saving again.
Cancel, restore, or delete
- Cancel preserves the event record but removes it from planned competition status.
- Restore returns a canceled event when it is relevant again.
- Delete removes the record and should be reserved for accidental or disposable entries.
Verify success
- The event appears in the correct year and calendar day.
- Countdown and local time are correct.
- Goal and target time are internally consistent.
- The current plan impact can be loaded when a plan is in scope.
- Competition-day workout conflicts are visible rather than silently resolved.
Troubleshooting
- The countdown is wrong: check event date, start time, time zone, and account time zone together.
- The event is absent from the calendar: confirm that it is not cancelled and that the visible date range includes it.
- Plan impact cannot load: verify that a current plan overlaps the event window and refresh any stale plan or event version.
- A conflict appears unresolved: explicitly move, skip, or edit the planned workout; the event should not silently mutate the plan.
- An update conflicts: refresh the event and reapply the change to the latest version.
